Our Story
🖤 The Story Behind Black Magic Grooming
Black Magic Grooming was founded by Alex, a veterinary technician in training who works in a vet clinic during the week. After seeing so many pets arrive at the clinic with grooming-related discomfort — matted coats, overgrown nails, or stress from poor grooming experiences — she was inspired to create a better, gentler grooming option.
In 2022, she launched Black Magic Grooming, a weekend-based grooming studio on Salt Spring Island focused on low-stress, one-on-one care in a calm and compassionate environment.
Alex is joined by her sister Debbie, who assists with grooming sessions and helps create a smooth, caring experience for both pets and their people. Together, they bring patience, skill, and a true love for animals to every appointment — making sure pets not only look great, but also feel safe, relaxed, and well cared for.
